Self catering holiday cottages on the Isle of Arran

Jim and Kate Mackintosh are delighted to present our self catering holiday cottages on the beautiful Isle of Arran. Rosa Cottage and Shurig Cottage have been renovated from old outbuildings with an interesting history into stylish holiday cottages with lots of character and more than a hint of luxury. They have lovely views across open countryside to the hills beyond. Our holiday cottages are finished and equipped to the highest standard for self catering. They share a large enclosed private garden and to the rear we have an acre of woodland and spacious private off road parking. New for 2009, on the other side of our buildings, Shepherd’s Cottage with it’s own patio garden will be available from early August.

Rosa Cottage

Sleeps 4 in two bedrooms 1 double, 1 twin. A double sofa bed in the living room is available for occasional additional use (by arrangement).

Shurig Cottage

Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms 1 double, 2 twin. In addition there is a double sofa bed in the living room as above.

Shepherd’s Cottage

New for booking from August 2009, Shepherd’s Cottage sleeps 6 in two doubles and one twin

All of our Cottages are fitted out and equipped to the highest standard

All have king sized beds in the spacious master bedrooms, an upstairs bathroom with bath and shower, an additional downstairs toilet (in the case of Rosa and Shurig with an additional shower).

The kitchen equipment includes - cooker, f/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster and an extensive range of kitchen utensils.

For your entertainment our cottages are equipped with Satellite TV, a DVD player and mini hi-fi system. Being fully heated and highly insulated the cottages are comfortable both summer and winter. Both self catering cottages have decked patios with garden furniture to relax or to enjoy a barbecue.

Laundry

On site we have a separate laundry facility with automatic washing machine and tumbler dryer.

Outdoor Clothes Drying Room

For golfers/walkers etc our outdoor clothes drying room is a real boon (just in case it rains!). Hang up your wet gear at the end of the day, turn on the dehumidifier and your outdoor clothes and boots will be fresh for the next days outing.

Restricted Mobility

For those with restricted mobility, our holiday cottages have comfortable wheelchair access. There is wide level decking from the car parking area to the doors. The doors are wide with roll over thresholds. There are toilet /shower rooms downstairs and double futon beds in the living rooms if these are needed.

Wifi Broadband

We have recently extended our fast WiFi broadband Internet access to our cottages so whether you like to surf the net or just keep up with you e-mail, all you need is your WiFi equipped laptop or iPhone.

Satellite TV

All of our cottages have satellite TV with recording and live pause capability. The larger cottages also have high definition 32 inch LCD TVs.

The perfect base for your holiday

Hamilton Cottages occupy a picturesque rural setting at Shedog on the edge of Shiskine village. Shedog lies about 9.5 miles from the main ferry terminal at Brodick and about 17 miles from the small ferry terminal at Lochranza.

Shedog is a perfect base to allow you to make the most of your self catering holiday on Arran. We are ideally situated for cycling, walking, bird watching, golfing, fishing, pony trekking or just relaxing! Within a few miles there are some of Arran’s best amenities and attractions. The picturesque harbour village of Blackwaterfoot is 1.75 miles away. Here you will find a beautiful beach, village shops, hotel (with bar, restaurant and swimming pool), Cairnhouse Riding Centre, tennis courts, bowling and the famous Shiskine 12 hole golf course.

The Balmichael Centre lies about 1.5 miles in the opposite direction. At Balmichael you will find something for everyone – quad biking, golf driving range, laser clay pigeon shooting, helicopter rides, children’s play areas, gift shops, pottery and tearoom.

Machrie Moor with its impressive standing stones, Machrie golf course and Machrie beach are all within a few miles of us as is the lovely “Kings Cave” walk at Drumadoon.

If all this sounds too exhausting bring a good book (or select one from the cottage library) and just relax. Arran is the perfect place to slow down and just enjoy the relaxed pace of island life.
